Jan Snel realizes temporary housing for Margrietschool at lightning speed

Jan Snel realized a temporary school building for the Margriet School in Woerden in record time. Due to repairs to the roof of the school, the elementary school urgently needed to find a temporary solution. Jan Snel came to the rescue. This week the school moved into the temporary building.

Brand new school building
The temporary school building is composed of fifty attached units, providing space for six preschool and kindergarten groups. Each classroom consists of three units and covers an area of 54m2. The emergency facility meets the most current standards of the Program of Requirements - Fresh Schools. This means that there is a healthy indoor environment in terms of air quality, temperature, comfort, light and sound. In addition, the school has low energy consumption. Thus, the temporary building is not inferior to a permanent school building.

Modular as a fast and sustainable answer
Jan Snel's modular construction system allowed the Montfoort builder to move quickly. Within two weeks the assignment was in order, after which the builders could get to work. The project is thus a good example of the speed with which Jan Snel works: in one week the ground was made ready for construction, after which the units could be placed and finished in one week. Thanks to this working method, the Margrietschool could count on a safe and qualitative solution within a month.

With modular system construction, Jan Snel not only provides an answer to the demand for quick housing, but also a sustainable solution. The temporary building is expected to be used for a year, but can then be reused elsewhere. The units can be reused as emergency facilities or in another application. In this way, the modular solution contributes to the circular economy.

Marjan Tomassen, principal of the Margriet School, is pleased with Jan Snel's quick action. "The realization of the school building went very quickly! Because the units were delivered fully prepared, they could be quickly connected together. That helped us a lot." Rob Derksen, project manager at Jan Snel, confirms that the emergency solution was realized exceptionally quickly: "Because we always have units in stock, we can switch very quickly. With this project we have proven we can provide schools with housing in record time. We are very proud of this fast working method and our successful cooperation. "
