Electrical installation: from design to realization

In a construction team, Elektropartners designed and installed the electrical systems at Bejo Zaden's brand new headquarters in Warmenhuizen. "The building management system is fully integrated into the E- and W-installations and all components can communicate with each other."

Bejo Zaden is active in the breeding, production and sale of vegetable seeds. The international family business has branches in more than thirty countries worldwide. The new head office with parking basement was built on the site of the old premises in Warmenhuizen. On the same street, Bejo Zaden has storage areas and laboratories. The company outgrew its premises and because the old building also no longer met sustainability requirements, it was decided to build a new headquarters. For about two years, the construction team, which included De Geus Bouw, Klomp and Elektropartners, worked on the new building.

'We're talking early on'

"We have been Bejo Zaden's house installer for 45 years," explains project manager Dennis Koopmans of Elektropartners. "We have also realized several projects for this global player, such as extensions to buildings and the automation of lighting. We talk with them at an early stage about the installations to be realized and possible, necessary expansions. We are then also responsible for the design of all installations to be installed by us." The new building in Warmenhuizen involves a complete electrical installation, including LED and emergency lighting, PV, data, burglar and fire alarm systems, home automation and access control system.

All components are centrally adjustable

Koopmans: "In the building, together with Klomp, we have fully integrated the building management system into the electrical and mechanical installation. This means that all components such as lighting, sun blinds and he climate can be centrally controlled. By using an Integra controller, all these systems, which speak in a different language, can communicate with each other. In the process, we can remotely fix any malfunctions."

Safe and expandable

The Integra controller offers possibilities for linking complex systems. This is why Elektropartners is increasingly using this solution. Commercial manager Roald de Jong of Elektropartners: "You can also add an energy management system, for example. At this location, for example, a charging line of forty charging stations and twelve separate charging stations enables cars to be charged in the most energy-efficient way possible. The charging poles are linked to the PV panels located on the warehouse. The system is very well secured."

Confidence in knowledge and ability

Koopmans and De Jong are very proud of the project. "It is an architecturally particularly beautiful building, shaped like a cabbage leaf. It has a lot of allure and would not have looked out of place on the Zuidas," De Jong believes. Koopmans adds: "It has a high-quality level of finish and is very transparent because of the large amount of glass." De Jong: "But the best thing about this project is Bejo Zaden's trust in our knowledge and expertise. Because of our long-standing relationship, they trusted us with the complete design of the installation, without engaging initial consultants. They value long-term relationships with local parties."
