After the delivery of the CLT (cross laminated timber) for the De Nieuwe Meent housing project in Amsterdam, Keistad Totaal Projecten from Amersfoort began an extensive finishing project. Commissioned by main contractor Zenitbouw, Keistad took care of the installation of metal stud walls, frames and doors, as well as the complete plastering and tiling.
"We know Zenitbouw through previous projects in the region," says director Sten Korevaar. "The contractor approached us because of our expertise in complete finishing. Because a lot depended on the delivery of the CLT for the timber construction, we had to be able to switch flexibly. Only after delivery could we actually start our work."
Keistad was responsible for installing and finishing the interior walls, hanging the doors and window frames, and later tiling the bathrooms. The unusual set-up of the project - a housing cooperative initiated by the future residents - created a different dynamic. "The atmosphere on the construction site was incredibly convivial," Korevaar says. "Despite the delays, the residents remained involved and the contact was relaxed. They also had a say in the colors and materials. We provided samples and they made their choices based on those. That led to a varied look: where social housing is often uniform, the sanitary areas in this residential tower are unique per floor."
Keistad Totaal Projecten is a reliable partner in finishing work, providing a wide range of finishing work from in-house: from wall, floor and ceiling finishes to painting, tiling and assembly work. "We look back with pride on our contribution to De Nieuwe Meent," Korevaar concludes. "As a progressive company, we enjoy contributing to innovative, socially relevant projects. We look forward to our next collaboration."
