Ingenious solutions in Capelle aan den IJssel

De Blinkert becomes Blinq. The site that for years was home to several sports facilities will be transformed into a residential area with several buildings. The concrete carcass of building block A is being realized by Casco Bouw Nederland. After seven months of structural work, its job will be finished in July. We look back and look ahead.

Casco Bouw Nederland's involvement began in late 2021. At the drawing table, director Jan Hokse, among others, thought along about the realization of the special residential complex. "In collaboration with Van Wijnen Stolwijk and Van Wijnen Engineering, we designed the optimal concrete shell for Building Block A. We always enjoy thinking along, because together you arrive at the best practical ideas. And the accurate preliminary work once again bears fruit in the execution at Blinq."

Tight schedules

There will be a total of 180 apartments in Capelle aan den IJssel's new residential district, 90 of which will be owner-occupied apartments in Building Block A, also called 'De Hoge'. This high-rise building consists of seventeen floors. The work is being carried out by Casco Bouw Nederland in tunnel casting. "The first four floors each took eight days to build," says Hokse. "The remaining floors all took seven days. We started construction in December 2023 and finished in July."

"During the first few months, the weather was quite bad with several days of frost and especially a lot of wind. Fortunately, we were able to minimize the schedule delay by using cold cast concrete. In addition, we poured several times with a concrete pump at the time when the tower crane could no longer turn for safety reasons."

Flawless cooperation

Casco Bouw Nederland makes sure that 'De Hoge' is up to height in July without any particulars. "So far the cooperation is going smoothly," says Hokse. "So I'm sure we can soon be proud of the final result!"
