The housing shortage is huge. In Almere, they are doing everything they can to solve this in a smart way. With a consistent building methodology, Trento, a new housing district with an American touch is being built here. The conceptual construction process of the New Brooklyn neighborhood differs from the traditional process. Van der Sluis Constructie worked on this project. Construction Calculator Harmen Last talks about the project and the close collaborations involved.
A strong and reliable partner for every integral a sustainable construction process. That is Van der Sluis. Over the years, the more than 85-year-old company has contributed to the construction or renovation of homes, businesses, institutions and factories. On behalf of Van der Sluis Construction, Last focuses on the New Brooklyn project. "Van der Sluis Construction specializes in steel construction and sheet metal fabrication. We work with steel in the broadest sense of the word. From construction to finishing. We do this primarily in utility and residential construction. But we are also active in civil engineering and industry."
Partner Nijhuis Bouw's conceptual construction process ensures a fast construction process. "The construction methodology is the same throughout the district. We apply the concept consistently throughout the district," says Last. "Many products in the construction therefore recur constantly, so you don't have to develop something new each time. It's also cost-saving." Van der Sluis Constructie typifies itself in this project by providing a diverse package of steelwork. "For New Brooklyn, we produce and assemble not only the structures, but also, for example, all the outdoor stairs and fencing."
Nijhuis Bouw and Van der Sluis Constructie have been working closely together since the first phase. "This cooperation is constantly developing. From thinking along in solutions to coordinating the assembly. Not only do you work together, but the process is also faster," says Last. The intensive and sustainable chain cooperation is experienced as pleasant. "You have to switch gears a lot, especially in planning. But you see the benefits of that on the construction site. The energy you put in is reflected in the end result and the construction process."
