The William is another successful example of the cooperation between Van den Pol Elektrotechniek and Klimaatservice Holland, as previously at the Amsterdam campus of Booking.com and FIRST (Rotterdam), among others. "We notice that our performance on these prestigious projects inspires a lot of confidence among other clients," says Jan van den Brink, business unit leader Utility at Van den Pol. The next joint project between the two companies is already on the horizon: the new headquarters location of a major bank in Amsterdam-Zuidoost.
At The William, Van den Pol is responsible for all E-facilities, smart lighting, a PV system with 314 panels and access control, camera installation, videophone facility and dynamic charging stations. "We also installed the fire alarm, evacuation and alarm systems. Worth mentioning here is the LIST sensor cabling in the parking levels under the building. We recommend this thermal detection for open parking lots. Ordinary smoke detectors are then often prone to failure due to dirt and moisture." The project is characterized by limited site space. "We often work in large cities and are used to dealing with this, with smart logistics such as just-in-time supply of materials."
Flexibility is an important principle at The William. "The complex is designed so that different divisions and layouts are possible, according to the wishes of future users," says Van den Brink. "Our installations facilitate this flexibility, with each half floor having its own distribution and meter box. The lighting, security installation and access control also take multiple users per floor into account."
The William has energy label A+++ and a BREEAM "Very Good" certification, according to the latest certification with tightened requirements. "One of the requirements is that large energy consumers have kilowatt-hour meters. Think, for example, of W components such as ventilation and heat pumps. If desired, kilowatt-hour meters can also be installed per half floor. The resulting information is integrated into the building management system. This makes it possible to optimize installations based on real-world data."
Van den Brink also experiences the benefits of a construction team at The William. "With the client's requirements and wishes as a starting point, building partners here jointly determine the best solutions according to their own insights. This allows plenty of room for everyone's expertise at an early stage. This benefits the end result and progress." Trust is a prerequisite for a successful construction team. "With this project, that's pretty much in place. We know what we have in common and there is a joint drive to achieve the best possible end result."
