NorthBaak B11: Where a solid start leads to great results

For a building that will form the skyline on the IJ, a rock-solid foundation is essential. And that is exactly where it started at NoordBaak B11: deep in the ground. Bonneveld Aannemingsbedrijf, with more than 50 years of experience in earthwork, provides a solid foundation with foundation piles. "We are the first ones on site and the last ones to leave," says Stefan Albers, project manager at Bonneveld.

Bonneveld is an established name in ground, road and hydraulic engineering. The family business, which specializes in remediation and building excavations under wet and dry conditions, among other things, has been providing customized services for decades. "We always work as a subcontractor and support our partners from A to Z. Whether it's just the excavation of a cofferdam or a complete package with site paving, soil investigation, soil removal, drainage, remediation work and the necessary notifications: we ensure that everything runs smoothly," Albers explains. This specialism has made Bonneveld a permanent partner of Kondor Wessels Amsterdam (KWA). 

From preparation to completion 

For North Hook B11, Bonneveld started construction site work in the summer of 2023. "We prepared the ground so that the piling could start on a dry and stable base," Albers explains. Once the piles were in place, Bonneveld got to work. From soil removal to the construction of a drainage system - every detail was taken care of by the company. Timo van Wegen, foreman at Bonneveld, adds, "It's a tight construction site, which called for customization and creative solutions. Everything had to be approached from the construction site itself." Unexpected challenges were also quickly resolved. "Along the way, we received a request from the municipality to remediate contaminated soil on an adjacent lot. We picked that up immediately and carried it out under our own certificate," says Albers.

The project reflects Bonneveld's core values: cooperation, knowledge and quality. "We have been working with Kondor Wessels Amsterdam for years and communication is always smooth. That makes projects like this a success," Albers emphasizes. With the purchase of electric machines, Bonneveld is taking steps towards emission-free construction. "We continue to develop ourselves so that we can serve our clients even better," he concludes. Bonneveld combines craftsmanship with future-oriented choices on the IJ.
