Those Belgians, not so stupid after all....

PREFABRICATED DRYWALL ELEMENTS FOR A HIGH-END FINISH

Perfect finishing of window frames and doors is a job for experts. In the Netherlands, installers and finishers join forces for this. They often choose a combination of plasterboard and loose (finishing) profiles. When we cross the border, we immediately notice a big difference. For years, Belgian craftsmen have been choosing the day side elements from Jansen Prefab; handy prefabricated plasterboard elements with which they achieve both a quick and high-quality end result. "We recently introduced our day edge elements to some Dutch distributors," says Gunther Vliegen, Sales Manager at Jansen Prefab. "Pretty exciting, because our ready-made attachments were still completely unknown to them. But our solution struck the right chord. Also with more and more craftsmen, by the way, because we see an impressive increase in the Netherlands."

What are prefabricated day edge elements?

A day edge element from Jansen Prefab consists of a plasterboard panel sawn to width with a (finishing) profile inserted in one or two longitudinal sides. The open joint between the profile and the plasterboard is factory filled with an elastic permanent grout. "We refer to the DK-1 (with one inserted profile) for finishing day edges on window frames and (exterior) doors and the DK-2 (with two inserted profiles) for finishing doorways, balustrades and end edges of walls."

Whichever product you choose, Jansen Prefab always guarantees you several advantages such as a perfect finish, less chance of shrinkage cracks, no damage to window frames, no messing around with extra putty work in the day side itself, and last but not least a quick and easy installation. Several tests show an average time savings of as much as 60%. "Precious hours and minutes that you can use perfectly within another project," adds Vliegen.

A wet or a dry?

"Every craftsman works in his own way. This is why we offer our gypsum board elements for both wet construction and dry construction. The main difference is in the (finishing) profile we incorporate into each element. In wet construction we choose a plaster profile, while in dry construction we incorporate a corner bead profile where you make a perfect connection to drywall."

Turning the corner...

Jansen Prefab not only has solutions for finishing day edges, specific corner elements are also part of the range. "Here we mill in each plasterboard up to the outer cardboard layer. Here the customer can choose a version with or without pre-gluing. Our impact-resistant 90° angle is also a hit in Belgium. And if you have other plans, you can opt for our custom-made elements (Gipso-Plus). By the way, all our products are not only available in standard plasterboard, but also in variants with increased fire resistance, moisture resistance, mold resistance, sound resistance and impact resistance."

Comments on the field

Carpenter Dejan Vanhassel has been working with Jansen Prefab's day edge elements for more than four years. Vanhassel: "I am very enthusiastic about these ready-made attachments for on-site use. It works easily and quickly. I just have to put the lace elements squarely and level on the frame and that's it! Because they are one piece, you work neater and the result is a whole lot tighter. These products are also a relief for my fellow plasterer. He no longer has to fill in the reveal itself, no longer has to place stucco corners, etc. I definitely recommend these day edge elements. As far as I am concerned, they are going to have a golden future in the Netherlands."
