New look and good acoustics

Ceilings transform outdated building into modern workplace

The National Office in Haarlem received new ceilings to match the new look of the building. Grid ceilings, perforated clip-in panels and mineral system ceilings were installed, supplied and installed by Integra.

The State Office at Surinameweg 4 in Haarlem has been converted from an old home for the FIOD and the Belastingdienst into a modern State Office. A more open character, more sustainable and a healthier indoor climate. The design featured many grid ceilings, which is right up Integra's alley. This company designs, manufactures, supplies and installs metal suspended ceilings and high-tech climate ceilings. Commercial director Özgür Kasirga says, "We offered a detailed solution and we developed it further."

Combination

In the building, the old ceilings were removed by contractor BAM Bouw & Techniek. Integra then installed there a combination of grids on the outside and perforated ceilings on the inside. The latter provide greatly improved acoustics. They also placed mineral ceilings. Kasirga: "Except for the mineral panels, all the ceilings were produced by us. That makes it a nice project, but also because it is a renovation. Different ceiling systems come together and you are dealing with existing structures. The ceilings give the building a new look and really modernize it."

Circular construction

The National Office is being renovated in a circular way as much as possible. Unfortunately, this was not possible for the ceilings, due to the dimensions chosen. Nevertheless, this is something Integra is currently working on in full, Kasirga says. "We are working on prestigious projects, from schools to hospitals and airports, including Schiphol Airport. We are producing more and more climate ceilings, where you can integrate lighting, cooling and heating. We also use insulation material made from old jeans in some projects. Sustainable business is one of our pillars."
