nhow Amsterdam RAI | Air handling units in a variety of variants

Ten air handling units in different versions ensure a healthy and comfortable indoor climate in nhow Amsterdam RAI. The engineering, production, delivery and assembly of these installations was in the hands of WOLF Energiesystemen B.V..

"As a provider of heating and air handling systems, we are regularly active in the hotel industry," says WOLF director Martin Wendels. "I think the great thing about hotels is the many different functions. This is no different in nhow Amsterdam RAI. In addition to the hotel rooms, kitchen and restaurants, you will find conference rooms, a gym and wellness. All those functions require different techniques. In that, we took care of the air treatment."

Total cost of ownership

WOLF had already been involved in the development of nhow Amsterdam RAI since 2006, thinking along with the installer about the implementation of the installation concepts. Wendels: "The installation consultant had already drawn up the frameworks. Based on that, we further developed the design for the air handling units. What I like about this project is that we very consciously focused on the total cost of ownership of the installations. Our designs therefore carefully considered power consumption and maintenance costs."

Ten air handling units

WOLF engineered, manufactured, delivered and installed ten air handling units in a variety of variants. Wendels: "We placed a number of air handling units on the roof. We placed the air handling units for the kitchen, hotel rooms, fitness, restaurant and retail inside the building." In the air handling unit for the kitchen, energy is recovered from the dirty exhaust air. In the retail area, WOLF fitted a high-efficiency  twin-coil system. In this, the air handling unit consists of a separate supply and return air section. The exchangers in both sections are linked together. Wendels: "We also installed air handling units with a high-efficiency heat wheel and a high-efficiency plate exchanger."

Eyecatcher

"A cool project," he reflects enthusiastically. "We often carry out such prestige projects, but this remains an eye-catcher. Nice that we contributed to it from the beginning."
