On October 7, Alderman Ton Spek of the Municipality of Sliedrecht, future residents, Tablis Wonen and VORM gave the (digital) starting signal for the construction of phase 3 of the Staatsliedenbuurt in Sliedrecht. The Staatsliedenbuurt is transforming into a residential neighborhood where young and old alike will find it pleasant and affordable to live. In the third subproject, 42 affordable and energy-neutral owner-occupied homes will be built. The homes are expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2021.
The Staatsliedenbuurt will be a neighborhood with much diversity. After completion of phase 4, the transformed neighborhood will consist of 282 rental homes and 80 owner-occupied homes. The Staatsliedenbuurt was built in the 1950s. There were great shortages of affordable housing at the time - just after the war - while the population was growing. The Netherlands was gearing up from the war, and new neighborhoods with ground-level housing were built at full speed. Starting in 2013, the Municipality of Sliedrecht, together with residents and homeowners, set out to revitalize the outdated parts of the neighborhood.
Thanks to the variety in the supply - apartments, ground-level homes and downstairs and upstairs dwellings - VORM is adding a new mix of target groups and functions to the Staatsliedenbuurt neighborhood. "This variety in supply gives the neighborhood a new impetus," states Alderman Ton Spek. "There are plenty of amenities within walking distance, including a number of schools, a sports complex and a large walking and playing park. This creates great diversity in the neighborhood, with affordable, sustainable housing. Space for young and old, which is so much needed."
Sustainable and affordable housing will receive full attention during the realization of the new Staatsliedenbuurt neighborhood. The condominiums in phase 3 of the redeveloped neighborhood will be built energy-neutral. "The future residents will cook, heat and shower on electricity and geothermal heat. Each home will be equipped with solar panels, a ventilation system with heat recovery, heat and cold storage in the soil, underfloor heating and a heat pump," says Pierre van Og, construction manager at VORM. "In addition, the homes will be well insulated and ventilated."
The first phase of the Staatsliedenbuurt consisted of an apartment complex with 77 rental apartments, 18 (rental) ground floor apartments and 15 single-family homes for sale. Phase 2 consisted of 59 rental homes and 23 for-sale homes. The 42 energy-neutral owner-occupied homes built by VORM in phase 3 have been sold in full.
