Today, Remix has multiple production sites and customers in many countries.
On March 6, 2021, it will be exactly 40 years ago. As a subsidiary of the neighboring sand suction company Vos, Remix started a mortar factory with 2 employees in 1981 in the Drenthe hamlet of Ellertshaar. This made Remix the first mortar factory in the Northern Netherlands, with a fully automated production process already in place at that time. In 1989 the majority of the shares were sold to the Finnish company Lohja, who resold them two years later (1991) to AGAR Holding B.V.
AGAR Holding B.V. includes Betoncentrale Twenthe BV, Betoncentrale Diamant BV, Betoncentrale Eemsmond BV, Betoncentrale Drenthe BV, Betoncentrale Nederrijn BV, Betonpompbedrijf Nijwa BV, Remix Droge Mortel BV , Zandmaatschappij Twenthe BV, Orion Beton BV and Diamant Beton BV. Each of these companies has its own specialism. Together they supply a complete package of products and services in the field of ready-mixed concrete, dry mortar, concrete products and sand/gravel throughout the Netherlands.
In 2000 the Sakrete factory in Hardenberg was taken over by AGAR Holding B.V. and added to Remix. Remix thus became the producer and licensee of Sakrete for the Netherlands and a shareholder of Sakrete Europe. Sakrete originated in America in 1936 and is the inventor of dry mortar. Sakrete is an international A-brand in the field of ready-to-use dry mortar with a lot of know-how and many (production) branches worldwide. Remix carries the Sakrete brand in the Netherlands very successfully as a trademark with its own bagged goods line and its own dealer network.
Under the banner of AGAR Holding, Remix has experienced tremendous growth. Over the years, Remix has developed from a regional player in the market into a leading mortar manufacturer with exports to many European countries. Innovation and product development have always been of paramount importance at Remix and have led to many new products and awards. It is still true in construction: 'If you have a difficult mortar job, you have to be with Remix.' Remix is also a forerunner in the field of sustainability. Remix was the first dry mortar manufacturer to achieve the prestigious Dubokeur for sustainable construction.
Because of the Corona crisis, the 40th anniversary is being celebrated in appropriately sober fashion for the time being. Artist Geert Oldenbeuving has painted a Remix construction site silo as an art object especially for this occasion. As the theme of this very striking silo, the Hoogevener chose birds for freedom and circles for life, supported by the waves of water. Water is the most important thing for survival. Also for Remix, because without water Remix mortars do not harden. The "Art Silo" is currently in front of the headquarters in Borger and will go on tour to various construction projects in the Netherlands starting March 6.
Over the course of this year, Remix will reflect on the anniversary in a number of more diverse ways, within applicable measures.
