Smart W and E installations are the basis for integrated care

Modern clinic requires modern technology

Rigging up a new care building while daily care continues ten meters away. That is the reality on the site of Kliniek Rotterdam Alexander. For Klimaatservice Holland and Elektroservice Holland this is not an obstacle, but rather an opportunity to show how flexible and decisive they work. “We have short lines, can switch quickly and take our responsibility,” says Robbert van der Sommen, project manager at Elektroservice Holland.

The installations delivered by Klimaatservice Holland will soon form the heart of the new building. These include underfloor heating that also provides cooling in the summer, air handling units on the roof and two heat pumps, creating a gas-free system. The team also provides the domestic hot water system using heat pumps. What typifies the company? According to project manager Tino den Besten, it is the broad expertise and approach: “All facets have their charm. It's nice to see how everything comes together once the building is upright soon.” The project is still in the start-up phase for the climate team. The major materials have been ordered and the schedule is clear: by the end of next year, the structural delivery should be largely complete. This will be followed by six to 10 weeks of commissioning.

Electrical backbone of new construction

Elektroservice Holland supplies all the main facilities: the main distribution cabinet with the sub-distributions, all the lighting, the fire alarm system, the access control and the solar panels. “Anything with a copper wire on it falls under our scope,” says Van der Sommen. There are several management deliveries applicable for which Elektroservice Holland also installs the cabling and where coordination is crucial. Especially towards commissioning and delivery.

Meanwhile, on the first floor, an unexpected challenge presents itself: the existing power cables to be reused turn out to be too short, because a weighted foundation beam had to be applied later. So another route is needed. Van der Sommen: “That's quite a puzzle, but we don't run away from challenges, we solve them!”

Building integrated care together

The new clinic will be connected to two existing building sections. This makes the work both technically interesting and organizationally sensitive. Van der Sommen sees opportunities above all: “The building has to integrate with the existing parts. Some installation parts still require figuring out, but that's what makes it challenging.” The same applies to the dynamics of a healthcare building, where wishes and insights can change in the interim. According to Den Besten, this is not a problem: “Healthcare is constantly changing. We are used to that and don't shy away from it.”

Ready for the future

With their combined expertise, Klimaatservice Holland and Elektroservice Holland are building a future-proof, energy-efficient and fully integrated clinic. A project in which technology, cooperation and care reinforce each other. Exactly what these two sister companies excel at.
