Sprinkler installation in stainless steel

Sprinkler installation in stainless steel

Hamer is no stranger to special projects and installations like at Compaxo. Bart Luyten, Engineering & Firefighting Technology Operations Manager: "Our strength is working in industrial and existing environments, like now at Compaxo."

For all four phases, Hamer worked on the sprinkler system, from technical design to completion. "The first phase was completely new, we were working on the spray tunnel then. In this wet room, of course, a chain conveyor was also constructed; we had to project the installation around this. In addition, this was a challenging job because we had a relatively short assembly time and the attic was poorly accessible and low."

Only stainless steel is used at Compaxo, something Luyten says is not often done. "In an aggressive environment like this, with a lot of ammonia, that's a good choice because traditional steel can become quite corroded. We only work with our own fitters on this job, because stainless steel processing is really a specialty." In the second phase, Hamer provided the water supply and in the third phase the sprinkler system in the new offices. The fourth phase involved the new stables. "We also have to deal with the HACCP regulations for food safety," says Hamer. To make the sprinkler system work everywhere, Hamer supplied a central water supply. Luyten: "A plastic DN250 ring main was laid across the entire site, as a central sprinkler aorta to which all the buildings are connected."
