The design for Van Mossel Vans & Trucks in Dordrecht was created by AGB Global Design. This architectural firm may count itself among Van Mossel's house architects and has extensive experience in designing garages. Yet for it, this design exceeds all records. This applies, for example, to the number of rolling doors - fourteen in total - and behind them the grease pits with lengths of up to 27 meters, through which the mechanics can walk upright.
AGB Global Design conducted interviews with the users and also inventoried their requirements. It formulated the main requirements and then created the design. "Trucks are not passenger cars," is the first comment Wilco van Engelenburg, director/owner of AGB Global Design, makes about the design. "That makes everything a big deal."
The showroom and service reception of Mercedes Vans & Trucks form the heart of the new branch. The ultramodern workshops, located on either side of this, will soon occupy two-thirds of the building area. "Van Mossel expressly chooses workshops that are equipped according to the latest technology. For this we have done a lot of research. We visited similar workshops, paid much attention to the desired efficiency and realized short walking lines. After all, every ten meters that employees can save while working is a bonus."
Thus, step by step - in collaboration with the management team - the design came about. "It was wonderful to go through this process together," Van Engelenburg believes. "It also produced a special end result. This branch will be the jewel on Dortse Kil 3." Incidentally, this does not end the work for AGB Global Design. During the entire execution, it joins the construction meetings every two weeks to monitor the drawings, expenses and planning.
