In 80 years, Hamer has grown from a fuel station installer to a leading technical service provider with 17 areas of expertise and four branches. "A great achievement, which we have achieved entirely under our own steam and without acquisitions," says commercial director John Dijkman. "Our head office is in Apeldoorn and we have branches in Assen, Uden and Kruibeke (Belgium). With approximately 450 employees, we are active in the utility, industrial, data center, food and automotive sectors in the Benelux and Germany."
With 17 areas of expertise, Hamer is the most complete installation company in Europe. "Companies and (semi)governments can really come to us for everything," Dijkman emphasizes. "From climate installations to asbestos remediation and from design to service and maintenance. And all this with our own people, who are connected to our company, are highly motivated and take responsibility for their work. When this means going the extra mile to deliver what we promised on time, we do."
In addition to a very broad range of services, Hamer distinguishes itself with an extensive range of its own (mobile) equipment. "This makes us very flexible, independent of third parties and allows us to develop concepts to carry out the work at our relations as efficiently as possible," Dijkman said. "Our offer ranges from our own trucks with HIAB cranes to special workshop containers and truck combinations. With these, we reduce our travel time, CO2- and particulate emissions and we can switch gears immediately in case of emergencies or malfunctions."
Hamer's central warehouse also holds all necessary materials in stock. So in this area, too, the technical service provider can move very quickly without depending on suppliers.
Heat pumps are currently unprecedentedly popular in the market, but Hamer has been applying them for years. "In addition, we work daily on a variety of clean fuel facilities," Dijkman says. "For example, we build LNG facilities for truck traffic, which is cleaner and quieter as a result. We also construct complete charging plazas, including electric chargers from 11 kW to fast chargers of 350 kW. We design, assemble and maintain sustainable projects, in which, for example, the residual heat from a data center is used by means of heat pump techniques to heat a swimming pool, school or houseplant company. In addition, this year we started installing and maintaining hydrogen systems for cars, buses and trucks on behalf of various system suppliers. In most cases we go much further than securing and installing the technical installations. We also take care of the ground work, the paving and the light poles and signs. If desired, we can take the entire project off clients' hands."
To reduce travel costs, CO2- and particulate emissions and to minimize disruption to clients' processes, Hamer prefabricates as many installation parts as possible. "To this end, we have a large prefab hall in Apeldoorn, which is currently being tripled in size. In the hall, we can manufacture all installation parts under the best conditions and then assemble them on the project site in a short time."
To ensure employees keep up with developments and technologies around energy reduction, cleaner air, CO2-reduction, efficiency and circularity, Hamer has its own training center with trainers and coaches. "Together with people from all disciplines, including our HSSE department, training plans are made in areas such as technology, safety and quality, which are implemented under the guidance of our trainers and coaches," said Dijkman. "We also regularly invite suppliers to provide training in our training center. We derive our motivation and drive from our passion for technology and our aim to provide optimum support to business relations in their activities. This has led to a very broad range of services and in clients who keep coming back to us."
