"With the increasing height of our construction projects, the demand for innovative and performance-oriented residential solutions will also increase," expects Raimond Stassen, Project Manager at Hydro Building Systems Netherlands BV. "The WICSLIDE 150 PS pullslide system from WICONA responds to this perfectly. The pullslide function limits the functional opening space inside the building and there is no obstruction to the balcony/terrace thanks to minimal profiling. The system is applied as a stand-alone solution as well as integrated into element facades. Large glass surfaces with excellent acoustic insulation also ensure maximum quality of life in interior spaces."
In addition to increasing urbanization, climate change with all its extreme side effects is also a thorny issue in new construction projects, Stassen notes. "WICSLIDE 150 PS is a hybrid solution because it combines the advantages of a sliding door with the properties of a pivoting window system. Because WICSLIDE 150 PS contains few loose parts, facade builders can easily process the product. A patented and four-sided rubber middle seal on both the exterior and interior sides also guarantees an optimal water tightness of 1200 Pa. Combined with excellent thermal insulation, high airtightness and outstanding acoustic performance, the WICSLIDE 150 PS pullslide system is therefore the innovative solution for all the challenges posed by climate change."
Clear, slender lines, a view width of 79 mm on the center hook and the use of concealed hardware ensure high-quality aesthetics. "To ensure a high level of living comfort at the same time, WICSLIDE 150 PS also features a micro-ventilation mode in which, by turning the door handle by 90°, the casement section can be moved forward approximately 6 mm without affecting the latch," Stassen says. "This also allows high-rise projects to be ventilated in a simple, natural and safe manner."
WICSLIDE 150 PS profiles are extruded from Hydro's CIRCAL 75R aluminum - a new and high-quality aluminum alloy of at least 75% recycled end-of-lifecycle aluminum (post-consumer scrap). "This aluminum comes from windows, doors and curtain walls of buildings that have reached the end of their useful life," Stassen says. "Spread across two Hydro production sites in Europe (Dormagen in Germany and Clervaux in Luxembourg.), all released aluminum scrap from demolition, renovation and transformation projects is fragmented, sorted and processed/melted for the production of new high-quality aluminum building systems. This assures architects, developers, contractors and end users of a sustainable and high-quality product and takes our CO2 reduction to a new level." The production process of Hydro CIRCAL 75R is fully traceable and certified by the independent body DNV GL.
WICSLIDE 150 PS was shown to the general public for the first time at BAU Munich 2019. In London, the first major projects were successfully implemented last year and since this summer WICSLIDE 150 PS has been freely available.
