"In addition to the private market, we like to work a lot on behalf of property developers, investors, architects, contractors and housing associations, with whom we prefer to enter into long-term collaborations," says director Martijn Waalboer. "We are specialists in the field of construction-related projects, in which we work according to a focused project method and a customized approach. Projects such as Calypso, the Markthal, The Terraced Tower and the Cooltower in Rotterdam and Pontsteiger, STATE, Pontkade and Cruquius in Amsterdam are telling examples of this."
Asto Kitchens originated from Koninklijke Houthandel Abraham Stolk. In 1973 father Ben Waalboer decided to take over the traditional kitchen division of this Rotterdam wood trade. Asto Keukens BV was born and has since then left an excellent impression in the industry. Both with customers and suppliers. The Rotterdam family business focuses on the upper middle and luxury segment. Among other things, with an extensive program of luxury kitchens from renowned Dutch and German top brands such as Eggersmann, Keller, Mereno and LEICHT. "We consciously choose not to be a price fighter," emphasizes Martijn, who joined the company in 2012 and leads Asto Keukens as the second generation together with his brother Benno. "With us you won't find screaming advertisements, unrealistic discounts and free assembly promotions. Instead, we go for consistent quality and long-term relationships with customers and suppliers. We are specialists in quality kitchens. We combine this with a national service apparatus, where we have everything under our own control. Private individuals now know how to find their way to our showroom. We have also been focusing on new construction and investment projects for almost fifty years, where my experience as a property developer comes in handy. In all our projects we assume a personal approach, honest advice and high-quality service. A deal is a deal. Moreover, we are strong in aftercare/aftersales."
Martijn and Benno combine Asto's traditional values with their own contemporary ideas. That this is appreciated was demonstrated, among other things, in 2013 when Asto was named "Kitchen Retailer of the Year. Around that time, the brothers also made plans for a second store: Leicht Keukens Amsterdam, the first and only brand store of LEICHT in the Netherlands. "With Leicht Keukens Amsterdam, we offer kitchen lovers a beautiful, timeless and sustainable alternative. For example, to the standard brands, which are made by most Dutch factories," said Martijn. "Especially in the project market, Asto Keukens and Leicht Keukens Amsterdam often pull together. Besides purchase projects such as The Terraced Tower, in which residents put together their individual kitchen, we are strong in investor projects (Pontsteiger, STATE, ...)."
