'A good start is half the battle'
The fastest way up starts at ... VIETS Steel Construction. With more than 100 years of experience and thanks to a skilled team of draftsmen, structural engineers, steelworkers and mechanics, VIETS Steel Construction can realize a wide range of steel constructions. Entirely in-house, from small- to large-scale and from simple to complex. Recently, the Harskamp-based steel construction company even took on the complete shell superstructure, making construction even faster, more efficient and more sustainable.
"On behalf of contractor parties, we have been providing the design, engineering and assembly of complete steel structures, stairs and fencing for many years. On request, we can also assemble hollow-core slabs, steel-plate concrete floors, concrete walls and roof panels," says Misha Davids, estimator at VIETS Steel Construction. "Recently this service has been expanded to include the design, engineering and logistical planning of the above products. We are also happy to provide sandwich wall panels, fire walls and roofing, assuring clients of one address and one contact person for the complete wind and watertight shell superstructure."
With this service, VIETS Steel Construction is responding to the desire of contractors and supervisors to maintain an overview on the shop floor. "Fewer construction parties means considerably less communication noise, more peace and structure and more space to build," emphasizes project leader Frank Veneklaas. "Moreover, just-in-time delivery and construction becomes possible. In the preparatory phase, our integrated approach ensures that all building elements are even better coordinated. But also that you reach decisions easier and faster. The detailing of the steel structure, walls, floors, facades and roof fit perfectly, cleverly eliminating unnecessary demarcations."
By outsourcing the entire shell superstructure to VIETS Steel Construction, work can be done much faster and more efficiently. This starts as early as the design and engineering phase and continues right through to assembly, says Davids, enabling substantial savings to be made on technically trained personnel. "A welcome thought, at a time when professionals are becoming increasingly scarce. The contractor can fully focus on finishing and furnishing, while we provide a solid foundation that stands like a house."
A recent project in which the benefits have come to excellent fruition is the construction of a distribution center in Hellevoetsluis with approximately 16,000 m2 industrial hall and 600 m2 offices. "Commissioned by U-build Realisatie B.V., we provided the complete hull construction. From the steel structure of 700 tons of steel to the roof and facade cladding, roofing, hollow-core slabs, interior walls, stairs and fencing," says Veneklaas. "This allowed the complete shell superstructure to be delivered after only ten weeks." Says Davids, "Both the design and construction were based on a BREEAM-NL 'Very Good' ambition, to which our services also make an important contribution. After all, waste due to clashes, ineffectiveness and miscommunication is no longer an issue. In doing so, we not only contribute to better and more efficient construction, but also to a better environment."
