Flat and monolith/smooth finished concrete floors form the basis here. "We realize concrete floors for distribution centers, storage sheds/halls, workshops and basements, among others, where high quality, competitive price and excellent service are paramount," says Rob Over, commercial director of Schipper Floors. "Because we work with a broad team of professionals, we can always surprise clients with innovative designs. We also lead the way in concrete floor technology. For example, when it comes to the realization of (super)flat floors. The Home Shop Center of Albert Heijn in Bleiswijk is an excellent example of this."
To support the robust growth of e-commerce, Albert Heijn is expanding the number of Home Shop Centers. The sixth Home Shop Center was completed in Bleiswijk last September. The distribution center was built on the Prisma industrial estate, now a real logistics hotspot for DCs of supermarket chains, and has a total gross floor area of 22,171 m². The building consists of 19,923 m² of warehouse and 2,248 m² of office space. The offices are located in a corner on the first floor, above the 16 loading docks. During design and construction, sustainability was a key focus. In order to achieve the BREEAM-NL 'Very Good' ambition, solar panels were installed on the roof. LED lighting and sustainable installations were also applied throughout, in combination with high insulation values of the building envelope. Commissioned by developer Borghese Logistics, Pleijsier Bouw Genemuiden B.V. realized the BREEAM-NL project. Schipper Vloeren b.v. from Apeldoorn was responsible for the (super)flat floors.
"Order picking in the new Home Shop Center required a flat floor (DIN18202, flatness class 4)," says Over. "To provide this, we realized a traditionally reinforced concrete floor founded on HSP piles for the 19,923 m² warehouse. In addition, we installed the floors of the loading pits and pressure layers." In addition to installing the floors, the Apeldoorn-based flooring specialist also provided the engineering. "Clients like us to take the calculation and drawing work off their hands. To streamline this even better internally, we recently hired a new structural engineer and work planner. We were already very good at making floors, but now we can also take better care of everything around that."
Characteristic of the way Schipper Flooring works is its enormous commitment, Over said. "That can be seen at all levels and is typical of the family business that we are. We ask everyone to be committed to the best end result. It's a mentality we cherish."
