With the help of various digital "tools," the manufacturer and supplier helps "its" installers install and prepare the devices for use faster and easier.
One of the tools that helps installers work on the products is the Smart Service Tool. This device, along with the accompanying Smart Service App, helps diagnose and perform all work on Remeha boilers and heat pumps.
"The Smart Service Tool, together with the Smart Service App, forms the link, so to speak, between a Remeha appliance and the platforms that can display information," says Arie Schaap. Schaap works as a Technical Training & Information Specialist at Remeha. "The Smart Service Tool is basically a kind of add-on for various Remeha appliances. It collects information from the boiler or heat pump and sends it to the Smart Service App, which then displays this information on the smartphone, tablet or computer. The Smart Service App is available for both Android and iOS."
Schaap explains that in developing the Smart Service Tool, ease of use played an important role. "We especially want to make it easy for the installer to perform his work well faster and in a simple way. The Smart Service Tool therefore has a handy size so that the installer can easily take it anywhere. A magnet makes it easy to attach to any device. The Smart Service Tool quickly connects to the boiler or heat pump and the transmission of data to the app is also smooth."
Communication between the Smart Service Tool and the Smart Service App, which provides insight into the data, is possible using Bluetooth. In the app, the installer can see what the status of the device is via an overview of the data. "It is also possible to retrieve the status of a device during a previous breakdown," Schaap says. "Furthermore, you can use the app to set and adjust device parameters. The app can also be used offline on the smartphone and tablet as a digital reference book with a troubleshooting guide and appliance manual, which incorporates the experience knowledge of Remeha service technicians."
Peter van Hunen, technical service specialist at Remeha, works daily with the Smart Service Tool and the Smart Service App. "I'm very happy with it," says Van Hunen, asked about his experience with the tools. "It works quickly and the app is very clear. I can take the Smart Service Tool to every installation because the device is compatible with almost every Remeha appliance. The advantage is that you don't have to learn how to operate the display with every boiler or heat pump; once you know how the Smart Service Tool and the app work, you can use it to read any appliance and set the parameters. That bit of ease of operation is not only very nice but also saves time."
Another tool Remeha wants to use to make the installer's working life a lot easier is the new Smart Start App. "The Smart Start App is a kind of 'installation wizard' that takes the installer step by step through the commissioning of a heat pump," says Remeha product owner Petra Saudi. "After pairing the app with the unit, you enter certain data, such as the unit's delivery system and the heat pump's output. It is also possible to save the settings after completing a heat pump commissioning and 'copy' them when commissioning other appliances. In large projects, such as the preservation of apartment complexes, you save a lot of time this way."
The Smart Start App is available on the Google Play Store (Android) and the App Store (iOS). "The purpose of the Smart Start App is twofold," Saudi explains the launch of the new app. "On the one hand, we want to help installers perform their work faster and easier, and on the other hand, the app helps take the level of commissioning to the next level. Heat pumps are still relatively new on the market and not every installer is already very familiar with their installation and commissioning. With the app, we offer the installer a tool to quickly choose the right settings for Remeha heat pumps."
The Smart Start App is currently only usable for commissioning the Elga Ace, but will also become compatible with Remeha's other heat pumps this month. Van Hunen was one of the first to gain experience with the new app. "The app is very handy to go through the basic settings. By going through the menu step by step, you can't really go wrong. It gives you a quick start, where you can be sure that of those many parameters you choose the right one. Another advantage of the Remeha Smart Start App is that after commissioning, the app automatically creates a measurement report with all the data of the project. You can easily email this measurement report to the customer directly with the app after commissioning. I recommend every installer to download the app because it really makes your job much easier. Once you've worked with it, you won't want anything else and it becomes a tool you can't live without."
