Soundblox acoustic concrete blocks have been used for years as an acoustic solution wherever robustness and stability are as important as room acoustics. Soundblox are now also available in a carbonized version (Carbstone), as a cement-free alternative to the traditional concrete variant. Since cement is responsible for as much as 10% of global CO2 emissions, this represents a revolutionary breakthrough, and Soundblox are not only useful in the fight against noise pollution, but now also in CO2 emissions!
With Soundblox acoustic (concrete) blocks, the solution for sound absorption, sound insulation and fire resistance can be combined in one stable wall construction. Moreover, the room acoustics are optimized in every room (both indoors and outdoors) where stability, impact resistance and fire safety are just as important as (room) acoustics. Soundblox are available in various wall thicknesses.
Now Soundblox are also available in a new, carbonized variant, where they still have the advantages of concrete, but no longer the ecological disadvantages. This new acoustic carbstone looks just like traditional concrete blocks and has the same sound-absorbing and sound-insulating properties. The carbonized blocks are equipped with identical special Helmholtz resonators for the absorption of sound, which is absorbed through the openings of the blocks and into the sound chambers behind them. The material is just as robust and has the same high compressive strength and fire resistance as concrete. Of course, in addition to Soundblox, regular vision blocks are also available with this new technology.
Unlike traditional concrete blocks, however, these blocks are manufactured with CO2, which is specially extracted from the air and used in production. Thus, these blocks absorb not only sound, but also CO2, making them also intrinsically contribute to a better world. In addition, after installation (in the open air), they continue to absorb CO2 and become harder and harder, also further increasing their load-bearing capacity.
This patented carbonation technology converts metal slag from the steel industry, which until now had no industrial use whatsoever, into circular and very high-quality building materials using CO2 as a binder and making cement completely unnecessary. This carbstone is 100% recyclable. After production, these blocks are placed in a special CO2 chamber, where they are cured within 24 hours with minimal use of energy. Production also makes use of available solar energy as much as possible to further reduce the ecological footprint of the production process.
What has also remained the same is the versatile applicability of Soundblox, which, because of their ball resistance, stability and friendly prices are gladly used in sports halls, but also in, for example, large warehouses, factories, swimming pools, hangars, etc. In addition, Soundblox are ideal for outdoor applications, for example to create a sound barrier in front of houses and apartment buildings, right by the highway or at railway stations. Furthermore, Soundblox are excellent for use in areas with extreme temperatures or humid conditions, such as swimming pools. They are also increasingly used in schools, auditoriums, indoor areas of apartment buildings, libraries, concert halls and studios, where they quietly do their work without compromising the design of the interior.
Like the traditional Soundblox, the carbstone version can be repainted in any color or, if desired, manufactured in color, making them fit seamlessly into any interior. Whether the design is industrial, traditional, functional or chic, Soundblox blend in completely with any design. There is also the option of (partially) decorating the Soundblox wall with a 100% natural, maintenance-free moss covering, which further increases the sound absorbing effect. This acoustic moss wall gives every room an exclusive and natural look.
