At the Rivierenhuis in Amsterdam-Zuid, not only has the interior been renovated, the technology behind the renovation also contributes to a sustainable story. Thanks to Rhoss Netherlands, this 1964 residential complex is now completely gas-free. Marc Meulman, technical director at Rhoss Nederland, talks about the innovative approach and challenges involved in this special project.
Rhoss Netherlands supplies and maintains climate systems such as heat pumps and ventilation systems. "We focus on sustainable solutions that perfectly meet the needs of our customers," Meulman explains. The company has a clear mission: to contribute to an energy-efficient future by combining knowledge and technology.
The Rivierenhuis presented a unique opportunity for Rhoss Netherlands. "As one of the first gasless porch flats in Amsterdam, this project required an innovative approach. The contractor was looking for a way to sustainably heat the building and chose our expertise," says Meulman. The result? Two large heat pumps on the roof and three booster heat pumps inside provide an energy-efficient heat supply.
The project also faced challenges. "One of the biggest obstacles was the power shortage," Meulman says. "In addition, we had to consider noise pollution from the heat pumps." The company solved this with an acoustic screen around the installations. "That captures most of the noise and ensures that the residents are not bothered by it." What makes this installation extra special is the smart temperature control. "Our heat pumps automatically adjust the temperature based on the outside temperature. The colder it is outside, the more efficiently the system works. That's how we save as much energy as possible."
The River House is not yet fully occupied, but initial reactions from contractor Hemubo are positive. "We are proud to have contributed to this innovative project. It is great to see that our solutions are being received so well," Meulman said. For Rhoss Netherlands, this project is just the beginning. "We want to continue to grow and contribute to a more sustainable Netherlands. The Rivierenhuis shows what is possible with the right techniques and cooperation." With the Rivierenhuis as an inspiring example, Rhoss Netherlands is looking ahead to new opportunities and challenges. After all, a sustainable building starts with a vision and decisiveness.
