Preserving window frames effectively

With a simple solution, Jan Jansen van Doorn devised an effective approach against wood rot of window frames and sills around 1998. He used stone fiber boards to make waterproof profiles. Installed ventilely, wood is protected from moisture for a long time. 25 years later, Marina, Gwendolyn and Bertjan are steadily building on the success of family business Ventistone in Tiel.

The principle of Ventistone has been developed over the years into different types of profiles. "We are growing constantly and stably and are currently at 200 kilometers of profiles annually," says Bertjan Janssen van Doorn. "And the end of the growth is nowhere in sight. The market is huge and our product is extremely durable. A stone fiber sill lasts a really long time, at least sixty years, and has a maintenance cycle that is significantly longer than ordinary wood. These are interesting features for building owners." 

Compressed rock wool

Sheets of compressed rock wool are used to make Ventistone profiles. Janssen van Doorn: "We process these sheets of 1.20 meters by 3.05 meters into various types of profiles in our workshop. The milling and sawing of stone fiber sheets requires an adapted machine park, with diamond tools and good dust extraction. After processing, the profiles are given a water-based coating that is universally paintable." 

Win points

There is no shortage of favorable properties, according to Janssen van Doorn. "Ventistone is low maintenance, can be worked and finished as well as wood and can be made in any profile and size. In addition, it is resistant to all climatic influences, fire-retardant, non-environmentally harmful and very dimensionally stable. We can deliver everything ready-made to work so that time can be saved on the construction site."

Click Glue

In addition to a range of standard profiles, Ventistone added the Click Glue® to its product line several years ago. "These are mounting pads that make it quick and easy to apply nose slats and sill covers to window frames. The 5mm thick self-adhesive pads immediately provide good ventilation under the profile. Like Ventistone, a simple and effective solution."
