Preserved homes get new front and back door

Some general contractors deliberately choose to work with the same partners over and over again. This way, all construction partners know each other, communication is easier and ultimately the construction process is much more streamlined. Berg Deuren from Ermelo is a regular co-partner of Nijhuis Bouw for the production and delivery of the hinged doors in the E-Sequent renovation projects, recently also at the Laarderweg in Bussum.

For the preservation of the 48 homes of housing corporation the Aliantie on the Laarderweg, Berg Deuren manufactured, supplied and installed all the hinged doors, particularly front and rear doors and a number of windows. The gap at the bottom of the front door was replaced with a 4-sided frame, which reduces heat and energy loss. 

"In itself, this is an everyday job for us. We have more than 30 years of experience in the production of hardwood exterior and interior doors and do everything in-house. For this, we have modern machinery and skilled employees. We can therefore respond flexibly to customer requests or adjustments to projects," says Theo van den Berg, who runs the family business together with his sons Arnoud and Robin. "In renovation projects you sometimes bump into unexpected issues, which you then have to anticipate as a manufacturer. In this project, for example, certain doors had to be integrated into an inset steel frame. It was therefore important that everything was measured well in advance so that we could keep to the lead time. During the renovation work, the homes remain occupied. If you don't keep your appointments, there is unrest and you get complaints. After a good preparation of the project in our workshop, the revolving doors in all homes were replaced within about 10 weeks. A tight pace of one home per working day."
