To make the second floor and roof of Scalda's former school building fire-resistant, Hilkhuysen enlisted the advice and supplies of REPPEL, a specialist in this niche in the construction world for nearly a century. What measures must be taken to make 7,300 m2 sixty minutes fire-resistant?

Fire-resistant spray mortar

Research showed that the bearing capacity of the floors was excellent, only the fireproofing properties were insufficient. "We then recommended applying a layer of Isolatek Type 300 to the underside of the floors," says Willem Jan Spek, technical sales manager fireproofing at REPPEL. "This is a high-quality plaster-bound fireproofing spray mortar based on vermiculite, suitable for utility construction. The material gives extra protection to the reinforcement and makes it fireproof. In case of fire, visitors have 60 minutes to escape over and under the treated floors."

In addition to expert advice, the customer can count on a calculation calculation, the delivery of the right material and control of its correct application. Spek: "In the residential care center, we carried out 102 layer thickness control measurements on the underside of the roof floor. These showed that the fire-resistant spray plaster was properly applied. The underside of the second floor will still be fitted with this fire-resistant spray plaster."
