Thanks to Brandsen Installatietechniek, IKC de Sjofar in Apeldoorn could be built even better and more cost-efficiently. The company did all the electrical, mechanical, and sanitary installations and applied its own school ventilation concept.
Brandsen Installatietechniek, which has been part of the VDK Group since May, supplies installation technology to around twenty schools every year. To this end, it has devised its own ventilation concept, in which the decentralized heat recovery units are prefabricated and equipped with smart software. The units have a change-over battery and can both cool and heat. Owner Jaco Brandsen: “They handle 950 m3/h per classroom, which means they comply with Fresh Schools class B. You can heat the classrooms using recirculation before the students arrive.” The indoor climate, lighting, and sun blinds are controlled via a panel in the classroom.

Applying this concept made it possible to improve ventilation within the existing budget. According to Brandsen, this was an important reason for the client to choose Brandsen Installatietechniek. The company also installed two air/water heat pumps on the roof and solar panels in accordance with ENG (energy-neutral construction). A gray water system collects rainwater, which is then used to flush the toilets.
The school is now in use, and Brandsen has also received feedback from users about how they like it. “I'm hearing very positive reports. We also monitor the installations and can make remote adjustments if necessary,” says Brandsen. “This was the fifth school we did for the PCBO Apeldoorn Foundation, and this project also went completely according to plan.”
