Sustainableization of 392 homes in Zwijndrecht festively launched

The 392 homes of the three ERAflats at P.J. Oudplein and Gerbrandyplein in Zwijndrecht are getting a sustainable upgrade. Together with the residents, Zwijndrecht alderman Jos Huizinga, Tinka van Rood of housing corporation Trivire and Hans van der Krogt on behalf of Team ERAflats gave the official starting signal for the implementation on Tuesday, April 16.

Nice step in sustainable housing stock Zwijndrecht
Team ERAflats, consisting of Smits Vastgoedzorg and TBI company ERA Contour, is giving the flats a sustainable upgrade commissioned by Trivire that will make the 392 dwellings future-proof again. In his speech prior to the starting signal, alderman Huizinga emphasized that making the current housing stock in Zwijndrecht more sustainable is an important pillar of the municipality. Besides more living comfort for the residents, the preservation contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions. Tinka van Rood, director of Trivire, is also pleased with the cooperation that accelerates the energy transition in the Drechtsteden.

A modern new look and more living comfort
All three buildings will have a renewed appearance and insulation will be improved, realizing a substantial energy leap. In the homes, Team ERAflats is renovating the kitchen, bathroom and toilet, depending on the current condition. Together with the insulation measures, this means a nice improvement in living comfort for the residents. The work is expected to be completed by mid-2020.

A luxury Bath House to unburden residents
In order to provide maximum relief to residents during the work, Team ERAflats installed a Bath House at the flats. This contains luxury bathrooms and rest rooms. The bathrooms have a toilet, walk-in shower, a sink with mirror, and are equipped with LED lighting and underfloor heating. A room with washing machine and tumble dryer is also part of the Bath-House.In the "House part," the rest rooms, there is room for about 5 residents at a time, who can stay there quietly while Team ERAflats is working in their homes. "We find it important that the residents continue to feel at home during this major work and have thought of all the facilities so that the residents can take a break," said Jurgen Weerdenburg on behalf of Team ERAflats. The Bath Houseis a design by architect Hein Doeksen.

More than 1,000 ERAflat homes under maintenance at the same time
The start of this project is extra special for Team ERAflats; as a result, the combination of Smits Vastgoedzorg and ERA Contour is carrying out major maintenance on more than 1,000 ERAflat homes at the same time. For the builder and namesake of the striking apartments, which have been found throughout the Randstad since the 1960s and 1970s, this is an extra festive moment. Work can really start now.
