Klimaatservice Holland and Elektroservice Holland together form an installation company with some 250 employees. Both disciplines were called in for the new construction of Rederij De Jong. "We don't shy away from a challenge and we want to keep innovating," says Mr. De Jong.
Willem Sterkenburg, as head of the design and calculation department at Klimaatservice Holland, was involved in the preliminary process. "From the initial discussions on this project, it was clear that the client wanted sustainability and comfort, but did not know exactly which installation would be appropriate. We discussed different variants, pictured them financially and advised on them. This is how the choice for an energy-neutral building was finally made. We were given the opportunity to realize a beautiful installation. We took that up together with the architect and construction company Van der Pijl, with whom we often work together."
Together, Elektroservice and Klimaatservice are total installers and serve a broad market: from regionally small projects to large projects and from offices to healthcare institutions and schools. Sterkenburg: "In addition to a new construction department, we have a large management department, where we can take over the management of customers' installations after the completion of a project. That is what we are doing in this case at Rederij De Jong. We can manage this installation remotely."
For the premises of Rederij De Jong, the work for Klimaatservice began with the installation of underfloor heating on all floors, says new construction project leader Tino den Besten. "In the summer, this underfloor heating can also be used as floor cooling. Then we laid the piping from the roof to technical space on the first floor. An air handling unit and heat pump were installed on the roof for ventilation, cooling and heating. The distributor is located in the technical room." The air handling unit provides fresh air to the office spaces and is equipped with a heat wheel for heat recovery. Induction units provide additional cooling. For peak heating, there is another electric boiler. Den Besten: "The planning was generous and we met it. During a project like this you always come across something: for example, here during the work even more sustainable choices were made by the client."
This also reflects the role of Klimaatservice within such a project, Sterkenburg believes. "The client comes in without a fixed idea. During the process the wishes are sharpened. By calculating everything dynamically, we can give a good prediction of the expected energy use and base our advice on that and adjust it accordingly." The cooperation went well, adds Den Besten: "Because Elektroservice is a sister company of ours, the client only had to deal with one point of contact. As a result, the cooperation was pleasant and the client is satisfied with the beautiful result."
On behalf of Elektroservice, Jan Blok was project manager. "The client was looking for a party that was willing to think along for the best possible end result. We distinguish ourselves in this: price is not most important, but the best result." Elektroservice provided a complete electrical installation with a fire alarm system, access control and registration, camera system, charging stations for electric cars, and solar panels and wind wicks connected to batteries. Blok: "It involves 80x385Wp solar panels. Because there was not enough roof area for more solar panels, it was decided at a later stage to expand with windwokkels: thirteen on site and another four on the roof of the building. The entire installation is connected to batteries. That was also new for us on this scale. We certainly don't shy away from challenges and want to keep innovating. We can also apply this experience back to new projects."
It also means that, if the project is successfully completed, the collaboration will continue. "We are now tracking data together, which is a win-win situation for both parties. We can now also present this to other regular customers. On the one hand, they then have to invest, but on the other hand, they can also recoup this. That is our driving force: satisfied customers and more sustainability on the market."
