Combination of rail duct types for Global-e Datacenter

A brand new data center has recently risen in the Brabant town of Rijen. From this beautiful building, Global-e Datacenter will soon provide its data-critical clients with cloud space and guaranteed connectivity via standard dual uplinks, directly from the rack to all important Internet nodes.

The design of the electrical installation to the data room was provided by Elinex Power Solutions. The no-break installations and emergency power distributors supplied by Elinex provide continuously available electrical power. To transport this power to the data racks, STbenelux was asked to apply its expertise in the field of feeding via busbar trunking systems.

Flexibility over racks

In the data room, STbenelux fitted above the data racks the originally American manufacturer Starline, which it recommends for its modularity, flexibility, clarity, extensive choice of equipment and the attractive design of the branch boxes. No matter which version is selected, the branch boxes can always be placed directly above the data racks due to the clever design of the Starline rail, which contributes to an extremely clear and functional installation. Two separate 250 ampere rails are used, with two separate branch boxes or plug-ins per data rack supplying each of the racks. The plug-ins are also equipped with energy measurement via modbus, which allows the consumption of the installed server units to be visualized.

Dual power supply to the data room

For the supply of power to the data room, STbenelux chose another strong brand within its portfolio: Canalis from Schneider Electric. This type of rail is ideally suited for the safe transmission and distribution of large powers within industry, utilities and data centers. This resulted in the installation of two busbars of 1,250 amps each from the UPS distributor to the data hall, on which circuit breaker-protected Canalis junction boxes provide the link to each of the busbar power cabinets of the Starline railyard system in the hall.

Full control

The experience with different brands and types of busbar trunking allows STbenelux to give its clients excellent advice on the application of busbar trunking and especially which product is most suitable under which circumstances to achieve the desired result. In addition, in-house engineering is carried out and the coordination of the assembly is in our own hands, thus maintaining full control over the assembly, connection and testing. The problem-free commissioning, the special combination of products and the extremely pleasant cooperation with client Elinex and principal Global-e Datacenter make this project a great success in the portfolio of Elinex.
