The pavilions of the business center at Brainport Industries Campus in Eindhoven include individually controlled air handling units being installed. The supply and commissioning is in the hands of Ventilair Group NL BV. The specialist in ventilation solutions thus contributes to a pleasant and sustainable indoor climate.
Brainport Industries Campus is an initiative of the Brainport Industries cooperative, SDK Real Estate, the municipality of Eindhoven, the province of North Brabant and the Brabant Development Company. Together they are realizing the very first location in the Netherlands where high-tech companies innovate and produce together. These companies will share high-quality facilities, including cleanrooms, flexible production spaces and warehouses. There will be a total of five building clusters on the campus. After completion of the first building cluster, construction is now underway on the business center for companies in the high-tech and manufacturing industry.
Twenty pavilions will be built initially.
Air handling units for pavilions
The business center will be realized in a hall of about sixty thousand square meters. The first floor will have a laboratory setting, in which companies can openly exchange knowledge with each other and join forces. On the first and second floors will be the so-called pavilions: offices of 20 x 20 meters with a flexible, modular set-up that tenants can furnish as they wish. Loohuis Meulenbeld is responsible for, among other things, the climate systems and commissioned Ventilair Group NL to supply and commission the air handling units. Rudolf Wielink, senior sales representative at Ventilair Group: "We supply two air handling units per pavilion; one on each floor. Each air handling unit is individually controllable."
Thinking along with installer
Ventilair Group NL is a manufacturer and distributor of ventilation products, including air handling units, heat recovery units, air ducts and fans. With its own R&D department and high-quality products from both its own and other manufacturers' brands, Ventilair Group provides total solutions for residential and commercial construction. "We were involved in the climate installations of the pavilions at an early stage," Wielink said. "We thought along with the installer about a suitable solution - literally. Because of the small technical spaces, the air handling units had to be as compact as possible. Fortunately, our air handling units allow us to build compactly, so this fitted in seamlessly."
Heat wheel with energy-efficient motors
The air handling units are equipped with a WTW system. This consists of a heat wheel with energy-efficient motors. Compared to traditional heat exchangers, a heat wheel takes up a lot less space. In addition, heat wheels are more powerful and durable. Wielink: "The system extracts and filters fresh outside air and feeds it into the pavilion in question. The indoor air that is discharged again is also filtered. The heat from the indoor air is extracted to preheat the fresh outdoor air." The air handling units comply with the European Ecodesign Directive ERP 2018. This directive has been in force since January 1, 2018, and is aimed at saving energy consumption and reducing CO2-emissions.
Cooperation proceeds energetically
Initially, twenty pavilions will be built. For this, Ventilair Group has supplied most of the air handling units. Loohuis Meulenbeld will install the cabinets, after which Ventilair Group NL will commission them. "The cooperation with Loohuis Meulenbeld is going well," says Wielink. "We have known each other for some time and know what we can do for each other. As soon as we come up with a delivery, their mechanics are ready." Ventilair Group will also supply and commission the air handling units for the pavilions yet to be built. When this happens depends on how quickly the pavilions are rented out.
