Intal is a fast-growing and inspiring building partner that produces circular aluminum facade solutions using self-developed aluminum window, door and curtain wall systems. "In doing so, the customer and his needs are always the focus," says Johan Andringa of Intal. "From our Lean working method, we are continuously working on product optimization and process improvement, which increases the quality of work for customers and employees."
As a systems house and facade builder in one, Intal has been working for years on sustainability, circularity, corporate culture and Lean production within very diverse projects. "From small to large, from standard frame to customization with engineering." Andringa cites a few disciplines and projects that demonstrate Intal's diversity.
At OurDomain - a 70-meter-high residential tower in the heart of Rotterdam - and at Westbeat - a prestigious multifunctional hub in Amsterdam - Intal's strength becomes immediately apparent. It is the combination between, on the one hand, rapid production of large numbers of highly repetitive aluminum window frames in prefabricated form and, on the other hand, the complex engineering and production shaping of an aluminum curtain wall for the plinth. "As a manufacturer and supplier of our own system, we are in an excellent position to tailor our widely applicable frame and curtain wall system to the project needs, both aesthetically and functionally. We engineer, develop, manufacture, supply and install. "
"At the Tergooi MC in Hilversum, we started designing and engineering from the need. The slim profile we developed meets the architect's requirements on the outside and fits exactly with the architectural detailing of the project, eliminating the need for finishing work on the inside after the window frame is installed. It resulted in cost savings, time savings and higher aesthetic quality."
Intal is also the ideal construction partner for the construction of distribution centers. This is evidenced by the long-term cooperation with parties such as Vrolijk, ASK Romein, Remmers Bouwgroep, VDR Group and Goldbeck, with whom Intal has now built dozens of distribution centers. "Because our routes are already fixed throughout and the entire production process takes place under one roof, we can guarantee fast delivery of high-quality products," says Andringa
The Duindoornflat in Groningen (now known as Dragant) is a fine example of upgrading the existing housing stock. "Without demolition of the shell and with optimal use of existing materials, we have unbuilt an old flat into an earthquake-resistant flat. The IT77 aluminum window frames were produced in our factory and fitted with the appropriate glazing. Since each frame was fitted with a sandblasted window with a unique house number, well-organized planning, production and logistics were of great importance. It is good to see that Intal's Lean working method provides this perfectly," Andringa says. Intal also realized the window frames for the almost identical Acero and Cornus apartments.
Intal has taken on several school construction projects, creating an aluminum facade solution for each school that matches the design and aesthetic desires of the architect and functionality of the building. "Schools are a speciality where design and construction require insights into social engagement and very specific functionalities. It is therefore a matter of knowing very well what the (future) needs of the building and its users are and seeking the connection there too," says Andringa. "Also within this discipline we work as a construction partner on an optimal process, product and result." He cites the Rudolf Steiner College as a great example.
Andringa notes that Intal not only takes on large complex projects with a longer process of guidance and support, but is also well suited to projects that do not involve engineering. "Standard window frames, simple repetitive work, in large or small quantities. Often the contractor already knows what he wants: he gives the dimensions, chooses a type of standard profile, the color, the type of glass (Intal can also supply glazed frames) and the window fittings. He gets the price immediately and can even include the details already in the design phase. No consulting or engineering is involved; the customer orders a product immediately. As a result, products can preferably be ordered and delivered quickly, at an attractive price." Whether it is standard work or custom work, it is the very combination that makes Intal unique!
When asked about Intal's future plans, Andringa said, "As a fast-growing company in a market where industrialization and robotization will play an ever-increasing role, we think it is important to have a sustainable production site where we bring everything under one roof: the whole process from idea to production and delivery."
