Housing corporation Woonforte and TBI company ERA Contour signed the cooperation agreement for the Het Rode Dorp housing project in Alphen aan den Rijn on December 16, 2019. In the Red Village neighborhood, 172 rental homes are being replaced with 172 new construction single-family homes. Developing builder ERA Contour has been selected by Woonforte to build the homes and is supervising the demolition of the current rental units. Bloemen Architecten, in collaboration with the residents, designed the of the new construction homes made.
Woonforte was looking for the housing project A builder with experience in building in an inhabited environment. After careful considerations, which included quality and cost, the choice fell on ERA Contour.

"The rental homes in the Red Village are in the middle of a residential neighborhood. That's why it's very important for us to work with a builder who has experience with that," says Paola van Kessel, project manager of Woonforte. "Building can be done by most contractors, but building in a residential area with existing homes, traffic and a school is a different ballgame. We found the right builder for this."
Jeroen Heijdra, director at ERA Contour is excited about the partnership: "We are super proud that Woonforte selected us because of our experience in building in the existing city. We look forward to getting to work and enriching the Red Village with homes that are ready for the future."
ERA Contour is expected to begin demolition work on the first phase of the current homes in the Red Village in June 2020. More information about the project can be found at https://www.woonforte.nl/Rode-Dorp.html.
The current homes in the Red Village were built between 1920 and 1955 and are in need of replacement. The homes will be demolished and newly built to today's building standards. The homes will soon be energy efficient and future-proof.
