Kubota headquarters gets bright look with smart lighting solutions

Kubota's new European headquarters in Nieuw-Vennep is spacious, modern and well-thought-out in every detail. Daylight plays a major role in the design, with a mix of innovative skylights and rooflights providing a pleasant and energy-efficient working environment. VELUX Commercial thought along from the first sketch to the final assembly and delivered a smart combination of daylight solutions for showroom, offices and warehouse.

The building covers more than 12,000 square meters and was designed by Klunder Architects. The façade of glass, concrete and aluminum provides a sleek look, while inside lots of wood and greenery were used to create a warm atmosphere. For light in the building, a solution was sought that not only lets in plenty of daylight, but also provides comfort and durability. "We combined several systems for a clear and well thought-out overall picture," says Nando van Kapel, Area Sales Manager at VELUX Commercial.

A gable roof without steel: light and strong

One of the most eye-catching elements is the gabled 5° roof of the office building. "This roof of 25 meters long and 4 meters wide is completely cantilevered, without steel," explains Van Kapel. "With our VELUX Modular Skylights system, the structure remains light, sturdy and easy to assemble." A total of 50 light modules were installed, including solar control glass and pre-installed interior blinds.

In addition to the gable roof, the office received 24 VELUX Modular Rooflights units. Measuring 80 cm by 1.20 meters, these skylights distribute daylight evenly and keep overheating at bay with their integrated blinds.

Smart operation and efficient assembly

All skylights and skylights are linked to the VELUX INTEGRA system, which allows easy control of the blinds via a tablet. "This system reacts automatically to the incidence of light and temperature, so that the indoor climate always remains pleasant," says Van Kapel. Because all modules are prefabricated in Denmark, on-site assembly was quick and hassle-free. "At the construction site, we no longer have to seal anything or adjust anything manually. Everything fits immediately, making the installation go smoothly and ensuring quality."

More than a standard solution

For VELUX Commercial, this was a project where everything came together: different products, smart technology and smooth cooperation with the building partners. "The great thing about this assignment is that we really delivered a customized lighting solution," says Van Kapel. "Not just standard modules, but a combination that fits this building exactly."
