EMA, Amsterdam | Extensive package of electrical installations realized in less than a year

Amsterdam-based SDR is a contemporary electrical installation company that has been around for more than 100 years and today has 180 employees. "We design, install and maintain electrical installations and everything that comes with it. We work for hotels, media companies and museums, among others, as well as in hospitals, offices, schools and new construction projects," says project manager Bob Hogervorst. "As a partner in the construction team, we can mean a lot. We always find a solution, whether the challenge is in the technology, the process or the future operation of facilities. In that, we are a little quirky, but honest and transparent, and our clients appreciate that. In this way we have built up many long-term relationships and that trust can be seen in the various projects our people are proud of."

The Bouwcombinatie EMA knew SDR Elektrotechniek from other projects and from the maintenance that the firm performs in the Atrium Amsterdam office building, also on the Zuidas. "We were commissioned to design and install all the high-voltage installations, including all the main and sub-distribution cabinets in the entire new building of the EMA. We also delivered and installed an 800 kW emergency power generator and a 60 minute 300 kW UPS as an emergency power supply. Furthermore, our employees laid kilometers of cable ducts and busbar trunking and installed more than 6,000 fixtures," Hogervorst explains the project. "Almost a year of preparation preceded the execution, during which we worked with various construction partners in BIM. All these installations were completed in less than a year, a unique achievement by the entire SDR project team."

At SDR, they are proud to add the EMA to the fine projects of recent years. Other projects include the renovation of the Anne Frank Museum and various projects for Air Traffic Control the Netherlands, such as the expansion of Toren Centrum. Furthermore, the firm is very active in the hotel sector with installations in the new Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam, the master plan of Pulitzer Amsterdam and various projects at Hotel Okura Amsterdam. Finally, SDR is involved in many projects for NOS and NPO and for healthcare institutions such as Arkin.
