The new building of Van Mossel in Waalwijk has a special facade, where architectural aluminum facade bands provide a special color and depth effect. Commissioned by Laukien GmbH, Coil provided the anodization for this.
Since 1972, Coil has been the world leader in the production of anodized aluminum for architectural applications. Its factories in Germany and Belgium perform anodizations for the most iconic buildings. The new building at Van Mossel in Waalwijk is an excellent fit with this, says Technical Sales & Marketing Manager Bart van Orshoven. "At the basis of the facade bands is our X-Flex B30 product with a layer thickness of 5 microns, which was folded by Laukien into the desired profiles. The profiles were then delivered to MGB Cladding Systems, which realized the facade bands."
At the base of the anodized aluminum are large aluminum coils, which have undergone various operations at Coil's plant in Belgium. "The aluminum was carefully degreased and pickled by us, after which an anodization layer and color of your choice was applied," Van Orshoven says. "Then the aluminum was post-treated and rolled back up. Because we provide continuous anodization, clients are assured of a flexible layer. This makes it possible to fold our anodized aluminum into any profile shape, without risk of cracks and without negatively affecting the corrosion resistance of the material."
According to Van Orshoven, the major advantage of anodizing is its color uniformity over large areas. "Because we work on the basis of constant parameters, color differences are not an issue. It is also important that the color does not fade under the influence of UV light. On this we even dare to give guarantees of >20 years! Thanks to the anodization layer, filiform corrosion (visible deterioration / flaking off of the anodization layer) is not possible. Last-but-not-least, any graffiti can easily be removed with a solvent and without damage. This allows Van Mossel and its passers-by to enjoy a beautiful facade for years to come."
