An impressive skylight breaks the building in half, so to speak

For this, contractor Aan de Stegge turned to Licotec, which has specialized in the engineering, production and assembly of skylights and other translucent roof and wall structures for years.

"To get as much light into the showroom as possible, the architect integrated an immense translucent roof structure into his design. In the side note, he also stated that he wanted to see as few profiles as possible. To this end, our engineers developed a skylight based on a self-supporting construction with unique spans of 35 meters in length and 7 meters in width," says general manager Bertjan Piest. "When you look from inside to outside, you see an immense glass surface with no visible steel structure, which breaks the space in half, so to speak. Moreover, the structure is at an extremely small angle of inclination of only 5°, so one does not see the skylight when standing in front of the building. This is an aesthetically pleasing solution, but one in which the forces on the profiles and entire installation had to be precisely calculated."

As with every project, Licotec first created a design in 2D and a visualization in 3D, which was overlaid on top of the BIM model by the contractor. After approval by the client, production was started in the in-house workshop. Only powder coating is outsourced to a fixed external partner. Finally, the in-house assembly team of the specialist from Duiven ensures professional integration at the construction site.
