Brick by brick: Volendam craftsmanship in Amsterdam

In Amsterdam, construction is hard at work on NoordBaak B11 on the NDSM wharf. The four residential buildings, including De Groote Kaap and De Kleine Kaap, are located directly on the IJ. Senz Bouw BV plays an important role in the facade construction in this project. "We have been involved from the very first moment," says René Zwarthoed, owner of Senz Bouw BV. "This whole neighborhood feels like our area. Here we have already processed a total of about three million bricks."

We plan and engineer a project together with contractor Kondor Wessels Amsterdam BV. That way we minimize surprises and maximize the result."

And of course again from the preliminary stage. "The entire building was drawn out digitally in advance, brick by brick," explains Zwarthoed. "That saved us a lot of time and mistakes."

What is special about B11 is its facade, which is made entirely of masonry. "Bere interesting for us, then," Zwarthoed states. The team works meticulously according to plan, with occasional adjustments. The fact that work is being done close to home, in the Volendam region, further motivates the team. "Everyone is proud and motivated. That is reflected in the quality and the pleasure in working," says Zwarthoed.
