Construction company Van de Ven and Kanters Elektro have reached an agreement on the complete electrical installation of the new, automated distribution center at Vorstengrafdonk in Oss.
The new distribution center, which will be completed in late 2022, will be largely automated, making it one of the most modern distribution centers in the Netherlands. From the moment of completion, the activities of the four existing distribution centers will be gradually transferred. This distribution center of over 40,000 square meters will then ensure more efficient delivery of all 272 PLUS supermarkets.

The latest developments in sustainability play an important role in the design of the building. It was decided to use the BREEAM methodology, which tests nine sustainability aspects. Choices in sustainability are reflected, among other things, in the use of materials to ensure optimal energy distribution. The design of the new distribution center thus meets the BREEAM Excellent energy label.

Construction company Van de Ven has now started the first preparatory construction work. Work for Kanters Elektro will start immediately afterwards and continue until completion in May 2022. By the middle of next year, the distribution center will be ready to start work on the warehouse automation system. German company WITRON will handle the automation part, while Kanters Elektro will provide the power supplies and network cabling for "the heart" of the high-tech warehouse. Coop's DC in Oslo and Edeka's DC in Landsbergs serve as models for Plus' future DC.
