In Kapelle, Bouwgroep Peters is experiencing a first with the very first HIVE Flexwoningen, based on proven techniques. At the heart of the HIVE housing concept is the super smart, modular and circular concrete shell from CascoTotaal. "With Circle we have been successfully responding to the growing demand for high-quality and affordable housing for starters, emergency searchers, status holders and people moving on for several years now," says Jeroen Adriaansen, Product Manager at CascoTotaal. "The concept includes one standardized module with a floor, ceiling and side walls and an interior dimension of 9.6 x 3.6 meters, which can be used to create numerous building types and building shapes. From tiny house to row house or apartment building and exactly as desired by the architect and client."
What distinguishes Circle is not only its flexibility, but also its sustainability. "The concept is very smart and circularly designed," Adriaansen emphasizes. "For example, the production 30% uses less concrete than other construction methods."
The Circle modules are suitable for both permanent and temporary construction, he says. "For the finishing work, we work closely with contractor parties such as Bouwgroep Peters, which we also fully facilitate. The shells are produced entirely in-house in our prefab factory in Terneuzen, after which contractors can carry out the complete finishing work in our finishing hall. Because the modules are transported to the construction site in one go and completely finished, considerable savings are made on transport movements. Moreover, the standardized module enables high-quality reuse."
Due to the careful separation of shell construction, finishing and installations, all parts can be easily disassembled and reused. "For example, in a new project, with a new layout and finish. Among other things, an advanced drilling protocol and the absence of collapse provisions contribute to this." If no new destination is found, the concrete can be processed into granulate and reused in the production process. "However, this is hardly expected to be an issue, as the growing scarcity of materials as well as housing shortage will lead to a serious second-hand market."
