Prefabricated hollow core slabs in all types and (extreme) sizes

As a total supplier of precast concrete elements, Preco produces the complete concrete shell for a building in its own state-of-the-art factory in Apeldoorn. Since 2019, this also applies to the hollow-core slabs in both standard and, by Dutch standards, extreme formats. A fact that Groothuis Bouwgroep made grateful use of for the realization of ABI in Haarlem. 

"We have been working hard for many years to fulfill our ambition as a total supplier in the field of precast concrete elements," begins Inge van de Weerd, project manager at Preco. "The production of hollow-core slabs was the missing piece of the puzzle. We started that in September 2019 to complete our total package. Almost at the same time Groothuis Bouwgroep commissioned the realization of ABI. As an established relationship of Groothuis, we were allowed to supply not only the concrete stairs but also the hollow-core slabs for this project."

Unique proposition

Preco delivered a total of 3,500 m2 of channel sheets in three different thicknesses: 200, 265 and 320 millimeters. "It was quite a big job for us at the time, partly because we had just started up the production line," says Van de Weerd. "Moreover, planning and especially just-in-time delivery to the construction site also required attention. Space was limited. The channel plates were assembled directly from the truck. Meanwhile, we no longer turn our hand to such quantities." In addition to the channel plates, Preco also engineered and delivered a large number of concrete stairs at ABI in Haarlem. "In total, we produced eighteen stairs in different types and sizes, in some cases also with a cast-on top and/or bottom platform. The fact that we can take care of everything in-house, so one point of contact, is of great added value for many clients. The cooperation with Groothuis Bouwgroep once again went flawlessly with ABI."

As a total supplier, Preco also meets the latest sustainability requirements, such as BREEAM. "Currently, we also have CSC certification at the Silver level, which will soon be upgraded to Gold. This certification shows that we meet the most stringent environmental and safety requirements."
