Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
Aurora is a new building on campus and will be a replacement for the Triton building. The flexibility of the Aurora building is enormous. The lecture halls can be enlarged or converted into laboratories.
The main materials are glass and wood for sustainable appearance which will contribute to the green image of the university. In the central hall is a large void from 5 stories high to the roof. In the atrium a lot of greenery will also be used, for example there will be two tropical trees in the central hall of no less than 8 meters high. The exterior side to the building is mainly glass, which provides enormous light, hence the name Aurora.
The goal of this building is to create a healthy living environment for students, with an open atmosphere. Students should feel invited to find inspiration and share knowledge. With only two months to go, the end of construction is nearing. Finally, Aurora will be completed on July 1 and then furnished for the new 2021/2022 academic year.
The Aurora project uses the WoodAlu-Frame® from WEBO. A versatile window frame that has many advantages. The outside is made of strong and maintenance-free aluminum. On the other hand, the inside of the window frame is made of wood, which provides a warm, attractive look. Here the color of both the aluminum and wood can be determined to your own taste. The Timber-Alu-Frame® from WEBO contributes to today's requirement, Aurora will have to meet the BENG standard. In other words, it is a Nearly Energy Neutral Building, where energy loss must be significantly reduced. The HoutAlu-Kozijn|® has a U-value of up to 0.64 and is equipped with triple glazing.
