Meet Vincent! This new monobloc air/water heat pump from Itho Daalderop is ideally suited to make new and existing homes more sustainable. Because the entire installation is installed indoors, easy installation and maintenance are guaranteed. Moreover, no space is required in the garden and noise pollution for local residents is prevented. It is not for nothing that Itho Daalderop called Vincent the heat pump that the whole of the Netherlands was waiting for!
In mid-November, Itho Daalderop will take the next step in its all-electric mission. That is when the very last central heating boiler will be produced! Itho Daalderop is the first central heating boiler manufacturer in the world to stop producing central heating boilers. "By phasing out the boiler, we can start focusing fully on the development and production of hybrid and all-electric heat pumps," said Category Manager Renewables Niek de Jong. "As an organization, we are highly committed to a comfortable, healthy and energy-efficient indoor climate. Our ultimate goal is all-electric, but we know that this is not (yet) feasible for a large part of the Dutch market. In the coming decades, hybrid heat pumps will be the first step towards sustainability for many private residents, owner associations and housing corporations. With Vincent, we are responding optimally to this. This air/water heat pump, available from April, can work together with any type of central heating boiler. With a capacity of 4.5 kW, Vincent can also be used in the majority of Dutch row and corner houses (up to a heat loss of 12 kW). The existing central heating boiler can simply hang on, and because it is relieved, its lifespan is even extended."
"Of course we would prefer existing homes to be completely off gas," De Jong stressed. "For housing association property that will remain in operation for 20 or more years, this is also a logical step. However, for property that will be divested within 20 years or where a heat network will eventually be built, a hybrid heat pump is a more logical solution." By allowing the hybrid heat pump to work together with the existing central heating boiler, natural gas consumption and CO2 emissions can be reduced, he says. It also reduces energy costs for residents. "With Vincent, all the advantages of a monobloc installation are added to this," he says.
With Vincent, Itho Daalderop is once again introducing a unique piece of Dutch manufacturing. "The air/water heat pump is produced locally in our factory in Tiel and is completely tailored to Dutch housing construction," said De Jong. "Corporation houses are often compactly built and have a small garden with storage. When an outdoor unit is mounted behind all these homes, noise pollution is lurking. This also does not benefit the aesthetics of the houses and outdoor installations are more susceptible to wear and tear. Enough reason for us to combine the evaporator, condenser, control and coupling of the central heating system into one compact indoor unit. The roof of the house will have only one roof penetration with two ducts, which draw in outside air, extract energy (heat) and discharge the air back outside." Because the heat pump involves only one unit, installation is easy. F-gas certification is not required." R290 (propane) was chosen as the refrigerant, which has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3 (where, for example, R410A has a GWP of 2,088 and R32 of 675).
Vincent functions best in a somewhat insulated home (energy label C or better, with up to 12 kW of heat loss), says De Jong. "The heat pump heats the house for most of the heating season. The boiler only jumps in when it gets really cold outside and provides hot tap water. The heat pump primarily obtains energy from the outside air, which it may supplement with energy from the ventilation air. Because this ventilation air is not the primary source, overventilation and draught complaints are prevented. With a COP for heating of 4.7, optimum comfort and efficiency are guaranteed in every home." Also unique to Vincent is the built-in LTE-M communication module. "This not only allows performance to be monitored, but also - like smartphones and electric cars - 'Over The Air' updates. Vincent is already smart, but becomes even smarter with this after each update."
In addition to existing homes, Vincent, combined with a storage tank, is also ideally suited to new construction. "Here too, residents can now enjoy all the benefits of a single compact and indoor unit, with no outdoor unit. By selecting the heat pump as early as the design phase, the installation can be seamlessly integrated. Since in new construction homes the heat pump also provides hot tap water and thus also runs daily in summer, with Vincent outside noise is never an issue."
