Beautiful and solid foundation for the future

In November 2025, Sanitair-Installatie Hoogendoorn B.V. will move to new premises in Woerden, combining more space and comfort for all colleagues and a cleverly designed modular workshop.

"The move is necessary because we have outgrown our premises after 59 years," says Managing Director Pieter Hoogendoorn. "My grandfather built this premises in 1966 and by now all expansion possibilities have been utilized. What used to be a warehouse is now a meeting room and the former archive has been converted into an office, but we still need more space. For example, to fulfill our ambitions for the future. As a project company, we want to move with what the market demands and needs in terms of image and techniques. For example, with regard to sustainability and water security. Our new building offers every opportunity for this. Moreover, it creates opportunities to be an even better employer for our employees."

An important wish for the new building is pleasant workplaces. Both in terms of layout, styling and climate.

Pleasant workplaces

An important wish for the new building is pleasant workplaces. Both in terms of layout, styling and climate, says Hoogendoorn. "In our new building we will have ergonomic sitting desks. At the request of our employees, several smaller meeting rooms and various concentration areas will also be furnished. This will allow us to offer a suitable workplace for every colleague and every moment. Especially in combination with our roof terrace, which looks out beautifully over the meadows and where colleagues can enjoy working, taking a break or holding meetings in the sun." The roof terrace is connected to the Lounge, where employees can have lunch, meet and relax, and which may also be used for parties on weekends. "And the gym on the first floor is also accessible outside office hours."

Celebration of the final pole

Planning for the new building started about six years ago, Hoogendoorn says. The official start of construction was celebrated in December 2024. "Because this was more convenient from a technical point of view, we celebrated the driving of the last instead of the first pile. It was a special moment, at which my father was also present. Where my grandfather built our first company building, my father concludes his career with our new building. In doing so, he is laying a beautiful and solid foundation for our future." The entire new building should be completed in October, he says. "The modular workshop will already be commissioned after the summer, so that our colleagues can already gain experience with the new lines and process flows."

Room for new talent

At the end of March, Sanitair-Installatie Hoogendoorn B.V. celebrated the highest point of the new building by moving the Friday afternoon drinks to the construction site. "And so there will be several more moments, because everyone is very curious about the progress and installations, which of course will be realized in-house," says Project Manager Marco Lek. As an example, he mentions Ricardo, a young and up-and-coming talent who will be installing the sanitary installations. "A nice but also exciting challenge, because suddenly his work will be supervised by some 70 colleagues!"

GPR Building Score 8

The new company building of Sanitair-Installatie Hoogendoorn B.V. will be realized according to the standards of GPR Gebouw. "A GPR score of 8 shows that we score high on the themes of Energy, Environment, Health, Quality of Use and Future Value," Lek says. "Our own installations make an important contribution to this. In addition to the standard sanitary facilities, a number of toilet groups are built modularly in our workshop. This keeps the techniques behind the wall visible. We also install several bidet toilets. All toilets and taps can soon be operated contactless, for optimal hygiene. In addition, each water tap will be actively metered, giving more insight into their consumption. In short: all the techniques available in plumbing today come together in our new building."

Hybrid water system

As an example, Lek also mentions the two rainwater tanks with which Sanitair-Installatie Hoogendoorn B.V. wants to anticipate the water transition. "To secure our drinking water supply in the future, we have to deal with (rain) water differently," he believes. "The expectation is that we will increasingly move towards hybrid systems, in which the supply of clean drinking water and the collection, purification and reuse of wastewater and rainwater are cleverly combined. We are already anticipating this with our water tanks, in which rainwater is stored for toilet flushing."

Space to pioneer

"Water security will become a top priority in the coming years and requires new ways of thinking and techniques, with which we already want to experiment," Hoogendoorn emphasizes. "Our rainwater tanks help with this. With a capacity of 20,000 liters, we are well above our user requirements, creating room for pioneering. For example, we want to investigate to what quality we can filter the water, with drinking water quality being the ultimate ambition."

Five water pipes

"An average property has one water main, luxury properties have two, but our new commercial building will have no less than five!" illustrates Lek. "Following the drinking water line, we are realizing separate water networks for the fire hose reels and toilet flushing. But also for (drinking) water filtration, which in the future can be connected to our sinks. There will also be a sprinkler system for our green spaces." Dirty water is also disposed of in two ways. "Our turds naturally go to the sewer, but sink water, for example, is disposed of separately. This will eventually allow us to purify this water for reuse as well. All with the goal of reusing the available water as often as possible and keeping it on our lot for as long as possible. Our colleagues can't wait to get started with this."
