Installatiebedrijf Bakker was founded in 1903 and for over a hundred years has been the total installation company in the Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe region that puts quality first. Its 55 employees work on all building-related installations, mainly for commercial and residential buildings in the higher segment. Full attention is paid to sustainability.
At BWRI Sappemeer, Bakker is doing all the technical parts, from E and W installations to data and sewage. It is a major project commissioned by Hesco Bouw. Hans Fijlstra, director at Installatiebedrijf Bakker: "We work for Hesco more often and for the municipality of Midden-Groningen we did a multifunctional accommodation before. With the same team we are now working on this project."
Work on BWRI's installations began in late 2024 and everything should be completed by the end of 2025. "We do the fine-tuning of the specifications and the principle drawing made by the installation consultant. We draw out the final design in 3D with Revit software. Then we coordinate everything with the structural consultant and architect," Fijlstra says. That communication and cooperation go very well. As an active member of the construction team, Bakker tackles all parts from A to Z. "We have all the necessary knowledge on board. This is a great reference project because it is an architectural building with all facets of technology in it. Especially the sustainability requirements make it a nice project. Of course it is gasless. We also use rainwater to flush the toilets and there will be air-source heat pumps, PV panels and a heat recovery system. Everything that is challenging for us in engineering is in there."
Not only is Bakker able to make the complete installation, she is also ready for maintenance. From the initial advice to daily maintenance, she thinks along with her clients. This ranges from the adjustment of installations to the monitoring of the whole and legionella control. In its more than 100 years of existence, Bakker has specialized into an all-round partner for advice, design, implementation and maintenance. "That makes for an orderly way of working. Whatever the project entails, we are the direct point of contact from start to finish," Fijlstra said.
