Construction pit excavated using berliner wall barrier

A specialist in complicated ground infrastructure, the Bunschoten-based company set up the construction site, performed soil testing and drainage and excavated the building pit, including taking care of the disposal of the soil.

"The work started at the end of 2019 and, with some finishing services aside, is almost complete," says project manager Stefan Albers. "We first set up the construction site with industrial slabs and connected the chain yard to the sewer system." To supplement Heijmans Bouw's sheet pile walls, a soil retaining Berlin wall was constructed on one side of the lot by Bonneveld (steel H-beams with concrete slabs). This was removed after backfilling the construction pit. The drainage was carried out with milled drainage pipes and pumps. "Not a particularly complicated job, since the groundwater pressure does not cause any major problems here," Albers continues. "The top layer of the construction site consisted of sand applied by the municipality - later reused on the lot, and the deeper layers of clay and peat."

After excavating the construction pit, another subcontractor completed the foundation. "At this point, the main part of our work has been completed. We are still incidentally filling in the foundation, laying a number of industrial slabs there, and of course we are clearing everything up again upon completion of the project." Bonneveld, on behalf of Vink Bouw's Lab4You live/work building, is also performing the groundwork on the adjacent part of the N-Plot on Arlandaweg.
