The construction of Eurofins' new laboratory in Amersfoort is in full swing. A modern, sustainable complex where every detail counts, and that certainly applies to the basement waterproofing. Van Tatenhove Kelderafdichting is taking on that task and will start the exterior sealing in July. "We make sure moisture doesn't get a chance. That is our expertise," says director Peter van Tatenhove.
Moisture problems can be disastrous for a building. That's why Van Tatenhove Kelderafdichting tackles it thoroughly. "We first clean everything completely, using 250 bar high pressure. Then we apply three layers of exterior sealing. That has to dry for two days and then we can insulate," Van Tatenhove explains. Eurofins' lab uses the high-quality products of Köster Afdichtingssystemen. "We've been spraying that for 15 years, and it's the best of the best as far as we're concerned."
The work at Eurofins covers some 2,000 m² and takes about a week to complete. "It's quite a big project for us," notes Van Tatenhove. The laboratory has to be ready for the future, and that includes a waterproof basement. "We do everything in the field of moisture; preventive or as a solution," he says. That broad expertise makes Van Tatenhove Kelderafdichting an important player in the Netherlands.
Eurofins is taking an important step towards innovation and expansion of its research facilities with the construction of this laboratory. As an international specialist in laboratory research, Eurofins conducts bio-analytical tests for food, water, environment and pharmaceutical products. Van Tatenhove Kelderafdichting is looking forward to contributing to this ambitious project and to permanently protecting the basement against moisture so that the laboratory can function optimally.
