'We can move very quickly'

Landslake Kozijnen & Gevelbouw is a relatively young company, but it certainly doesn't shy away from challenges. It proved this in the Senso project in Amsterdam. In making 935 homes more sustainable for housing association Eigen Haard, the company took care of the production and installation of the plastic window frames, including the installation of triple glazing and the hsb wall elements.

Director Ehab Sahrgty of Landslake wanted to build 100 new apartments with some partners about five years ago. The land for this had already been purchased, but the permit process was still ongoing in the meantime. Sahrgty: "At that time I had already collected a lot of components for the new apartments, such as window frames and facades. Through the agency I came into contact with interested contractors, and before I knew it, we were commissioned to fit out one hundred apartments with window frames. After that, we were soon sitting around the table for Senso as well."

The project went smoothly.

Landslake Frame and Facade Construction imports profiles, accessories and hardware from Germany and then manufactures the frames itself in Turkey: especially aluminum and plastic frames. Wooden window frames are purchased elsewhere. The company also takes on the installation, with a team of some 25 of its own people. For renowned contractors, housing corporations and owners' associations, Landslake handles projects from large to small: from a single window frame to entire neighborhoods.

Four homes a day

On the Senso project, Landslake was introduced by client Eigen Haard to general contractor Qbuild. At a rapid pace, the company provided four homes a day with new window frames, sliding doors and timber-frame facades. Sahrgty: "We spent a total of eighteen months there. That's our strength: we can move very quickly. The residents were able to stay in their homes. Four houses a day and that in an inhabited state, that is a feat that not many parties imitate us. Of course, we did encounter some challenges in the beginning. For example, we had some personnel and delivery problems due to the war in Ukraine. Once that was resolved, things went like a rocket."

Proud and satisfied

As such, he looks back on the project with satisfaction and pride. The size, speed and complexity made this a unique project. "The largest frame manufacturers in the Netherlands didn't dare to do it and we just did it. Because we jumped into the deep end, we now know exactly what we can do. Although every project is different, because you are still dealing with people." At Senso, cooperation with other parties went exceptionally well, Sahrgty says. From the glass supplier to the German profile suppliers. Meanwhile, the company is working on dozens of projects for Dura Vermeer and various VvEs, among others.
