Playful facade appearance in natural wood composite

Bio-based, maintenance-free, insect-proof, rot-proof, colorfast and much, much more: it all applies to the new cladding of the headquarters of the Maasdelta Group in Spijkenisse, executed in LJ Solutions' natural wood composite 'Neolife'. The variation in dilation also creates a playful facade image.

The building's architect had expressed his preference early on to work with Neolife on the facade, says Corine Schoonderbeek of LJ Solutions. "Not only because of the benefits mentioned above and the circular thinking, but also because of the fact that Neolife has a favorable fire class B as standard. Together with GarantieGevels, the dealer of our product and a highly valued partner for many years, we implemented this for the facade. Eskra was responsible for the installation."

Creative with dilations

A total of about 1,250 m2 of Neolife type Cover 6 was applied to the facade, mainly in Sun color and a small portion in Heat color. "The cladding has to be applied in a ventilated manner and, because of its minimal effect, also requires expansion joints," Schoonderbeek explains. "Usually this is solved with a full-length joint in line with a window frame, for example, but in this project we dealt with this in a more creative way. The panels are mounted in a wild pattern across the entire facade, which creates a playful look." The Neolife cladding is blindly attached to the substructure using clips.

Deliver on demand

Because of the limited space on the construction site, LJ Solutions created a temporary hub in consultation with the client. "Here we put the complete facade in stock to be able to deliver from there on demand to the construction site for assembly. That's another service we offer from LJ Solutions," Schoonderbeek says. "We think along in every possible way to make the construction process as efficient as possible. And that is appreciated." 

Finally, she reports that LJ Solutions has added a new variant of Neolife to its range. "The Link is a slightly more economical version of the Cover with, admittedly, a slightly shallower profile, but with the same performance as well as fire class B."
