Glass solutions for optimal comfort

Most balconies do not invite long stays. "Too bad, because there is a lot to do about this," Waldo Duin knows. "With special balcony glazing you broaden the view, increase comfort and shut out the sounds of the surroundings. The balcony is then a pleasant extension of the living space in the summer, a winter garden in the chilly months."

Waldo Duin is director/owner of Mview+ and Metaglas. Both companies bring unique glass solutions to optimize living and working comfort - anywhere. Initially, all products were brought by Metaglas. When this resulted in a multitude of products, the company was split in 2020. Since then, Metaglas has focused on unique vision through sustainable Dutch Design in the form of slim aluminum windows, doors and façade solutions in the thermal external envelope of buildings. Mview+ is the specialist in products that improve sound and thermal insulation, comfort or safety. Now - two and a half years later - Duin knows that the decision to split was a good one. "Both companies now have their own dynamics and focus. They can operate better as a result."

From counter solutions to noise barriers

Five pillars stand out within Mview+. The balcony glazing is applicable in existing and new building projects, where they provide protection against noise, wind, cold and precipitation. The Metaplus rear windows are an ideal solution for post-insulating a building, where the original facade appearance remains unchanged. The Silent Air Façade Sound Barriers are specially designed to reduce noise levels on façades in new construction and transformation projects. Total Glass facades and doors are seen in offices, entrances and stores where transparency is desired. "In this we can go very far," says Duin. "In fact, our hard-glass facades and glass structures have minimal detailing that maximizes transparency." And finally, there are counter and countertop solutions.

Silent Air Facade Sound Barriers 

Overarching the focus of Mview+'s products is noise reduction and comfort. An appealing example of noise reduction was recently delivered to the Rogier van der Weij-destraat in Alkmaar. Without these screens, habitation would not be possible due to the constantly passing traffic from the ring road. Duin: "Here we installed the Silent Air Facade Noise Screens, which absorb the noise on the one hand and embellish the facade image on the other. The profiles act as picture frames, adding to the view. It is wonderful to live here now."

All Mview+ products consist mainly of glass and are applied as "pure" as possible, i.e. with minimal additives. Basically, the transparency of the glass is exploited to the full. By assembling the products with attractive, slim aluminum profiles and stainless steel design fittings, they are an addition to any building, both inside and outside. The sustainability of the Mview+ products is also spot on. "Glass is recycled and is needed in the production of new glass. In addition, we use recycled aluminum for 90%."
